The Bay City Rollers cut their performing teeth playing Edinburgh’s spit and sawdust club circuit. They were working class boys who wanted to be pop stars, perhaps subscribing to the old maxim that the only way for ambitious young kids from backgrounds like theirs was through sport, crime, showbiz, or a combination of all three.
