Gerry Cambridge - The Ayrshire Nestling Book Launch
Join poet, editor, and essayist Gerry Cambridge for the launch of his debut work of prose, The Ayrshire Nestling.
This is the story of teenage Jed - 'Oxy' in its earlier pages - an oddball outsider who discovers a liking for birds but is baffled by everything else. A hard book to describe, its sometimes-comic narrative includes teenage paranoia, obsessions, eating disorders, religious sectarianism, repression, working-class life, father/son relationships, and wild birds' eggs.
The launch will feature a reading and discussion with poet Niall Campbell, plus audience Q&A.

Jazz Thursdays present
Zoe Rahman - Solo piano and duets with Helena Kay plus the Nathan Somevi Trio
Piano virtuoso Zoe Rahman is one of the most distinctive musicians on the UK and European jazz scenes. Zoe brings her background in classical piano as well as her Bengali heritage and studies with the inspirational jazz pianist JoAnne Brackeen at Berklee College of Music to bear on her highly individual style.
Zoe’s solo piano performances are full of imagination, creativity and exuberance and this concert also offers a chance to appreciate her talents for intimate musical conversations in a duo with saxophonist Helena Kay.
Ghana-born, Glasgow-based Nathan Somevi creates warm-toned, spacey music playing a hybrid guitar that combines both standard and bass registers and fronting a trio featuring saxophonist Simon Herberholz and drummer Niall Ford.

Kjetil Mulelid Solo Piano
Kjetil Mulelid's various projects have received international acclaim, ranging from his duo with Siril Malmedal Hauge, his trio, and the quartet, Wako.
His first solo album, "Piano" (Rune Grammofon, 2021) received plaudits that placed him in the same company as pianists like Keith Jarret, Brad Mehldau, and Bill Evans. His latest project "Agoja", demonstrates what a musician and composer worthy of such acclaim can do with an ensemble cast of musicians of the highest calibre.
Mulelid's music is a series of beautiful and harmonious compositions that Mulelid has written, which are formed intuitively through his improvisational and spontaneous way of playing. With a desire to tell a story in every musical stanza, he treats each song like a blank canvas and paints with his melodies and a natural rhythmic flow in the playful music.
The Outhouse, Broughton Street Lane. 8.15pm. Tickets on the door.
Playtime Meets Sean Megaw
Sean Megaw is a young Tenor Saxophone player who graduated from the jazz course at RCS in 2022 and received the prestigious the Alan McAuley Jazz Award for the most promising student - and he is developing into one of the most creative and engaging players to burst onto the scene. His music is humorous but firmly rooted in the jazz tradition. He will lead the trio along with Tom Bancroft and Mario Caribé. Catch a rising star on a night that is sure to be swinging and great fun!

Andrew Wasylik and Tommy Perman
Andrew Wasylyk and Tommy Perman have orbited each others worlds for a number of years through audio-visual collaborations spanning record releases, films and sound installations.
With their first collaborative album as a duo expected later in the year on Clay Pipe Music, the spirit of the project channels through on new single, ’Communal Imagination’. Wasylyk’s trademark searching piano chords float above Perman’s distinct juddering rhythms, conjuring a Balaeric abstraction of Basil Kirchin.
Elsewhere, saxophones and choral vocals climb above fluttering Juno synths in a unifying chorus.
An intimate, transcendental audio-visual performance by two artists at the height of their creativity.

Cinetopia Networking Night
Cinetopia Networking Night is back again this month!
Come along and connect with fellow film industry folks over drinks and informal chats, whether you're a seasoned pro, or just starting out and keen to learn more.
Our film networking events are all about building connections and community in the local film industry.
All are welcome, you do not have to have attended the former event to pop along for our networking drinks!
It is free to attend and there is a cash bar available for drinks.
*If you've not been to a Cinetopia Networking Night before, this is one of our regular nights for the general film industry to get together for a casual drink and/or chat. Started in 2018, we felt there was a great need to meet others across the city in the industry on a regular basis. Whether you are looking for your next gig or your next collaborator, we hope that these events will either help a bit in making those connections or merely just offer the chance to catch up with colleagues and crew members.
Please RSVP so we can let our hosts know how many to expect. If you have to cancel, please let us know so we can offer the space to someone else!

Px4M presents
Otis Jordan and Friends Tinnman Cod O’Donnell
I first met Otis Jordan in an abandoned bank in suburban Manchester. Otis was playing. He was like a sci fi dick van dyke. I got to see the old bank vault. There were many deep grooves where there had been attempted break ins.
Fast forward 6 years and he's just brought out a new album Net of Atoms on sept 13th. He played a solo show in March for PX4M but turned up instead with a 5 piece band including trumpet drums etc and somebody really playing the saw, not just making whibbly atmospheric noises.
He said some of the people will turn up to this show, but if they all turn up we'll somehow fit them all by the second hand books.
Tinnman is Finn who will also hit the skins in Otis] band, going ham on some bells he exhibited in the RSA. He's really good at hitting bells. The bells are all angular shapes and funny sizes like Wetherspoons pizza.
Cod's going to do his surreal horror folk thing. Possibly some cryptid involvement dunno make it up closer to the time.
