Lottie Davies & Craig Easton - Havens: Stories and Portraits from NHS Lothian
Photographs, audio and text by award-winning artists, Craig Easton and Lottie Davies, the result of an 18-month long residency with NHS Lothian Charity commissioned by their Tonic Arts and Green Health teams.
Imposing, but intimate, large-scale portraits, still lives and personal testimony document the ‘havens’ of NHS Lothian staff; the places where they find time for quiet in their hectic workdays. From the basement laundry at the Royal Infirmary to the rooftop terrace of NHS Lothian headquarters at Waverley Gate, and from a clinical pharmacist at Midlothian Community Hospital to the painter and decorator at the Royal Edinburgh, 28 penetrating photographs uncover these hidden gems and celebrate the commitment of the staff who find solace in them.
During their residency, the artists interviewed and photographed over 70 NHS staff across the Lothians, from a variety of roles across a wide range of hospital and healthcare sites. The result is a collection of photographs and stories that give insight to the wellbeing and mental health needs of all those working in healthcare. The work has become part of NHS Lothian Charity’s Tonic Arts permanent art collection and will be exhibited across hospital and healthcare sites across the region in the coming months and years.

Mare Music and Tonegarden presents
Alt Rock Punk Triple Bill with
Oliver Wardell and the Personnel Gutterblood Cowboy Hunters
Local music chameleon Oliver Wardell and The Personnel present an oscillating mix of songs from new album “Oliver Died on the way to his home Planet” through a visceral punk and metal sound that isn’t afraid of poking fun at itself. For people whose favourite reaction to stimuli is “what the hell just happened?!”.
Formed in 2019, Gutterblood fuse elements of blues, indie, doom, punk and politics. The band released their debut album in 2022 mastered by John McBain of Monster Magnet and QOTSA fame, receiving critical acclaim in the worldwide metal, punk and indie press. Gutterblood seize the cultural climate of the day, using samples and heavy, groove driven dynamics. They uniquely prefer to work with guest vocalists and musicians on many of their tracks and in the live arena. In May 2023 Gutterblood released their first 7”, Gardyloo, a split with Scottish anarcho punk legends Oi Polloi. This was followed in 2024 by their first 10″ E.P., Hard Gandhi.
Cowboy Hunters
“Punk rock settles down and has a daughter, the daughter runs away and has a son with a robot. The hellish offspring is exiled. Sick riffs and spite are his only solace. This is the story of our ancestors…”

The book launch of Grant McPhee’s epic oral history of Scottish indie music 1983 to 1995 –Postcards From Scotland.
The Inverclyde music scene has had its fair share of hit bands over the years…the area has always punched well above its weight.
Now it’s the turn of the next generation, and leading the way are The Cords.
Grace and Eva are two sisters brought (even closer) together through their shared love for groups like The Pastels, The Umbrellas, The Vaselines, BMX Bandits, Shop Assistants…you get the picture. They have racked up some impressive support slots (including The Vaselines, Carla J Easton and The Umbrellas).
Their debut single, Bo’s New Haircut/Rather Not Stay - recorded by Simon Liddell (Frightened Rabbit, Poster Paints) and Jonny Scott (CHVRCHES), and featuring Carla J Easton on keys – sold out in hours.
Postcards From Scotland is published by Omnibus Press. Signed copies available on the night.

Mare Music present
Adam Stafford Bell Lungs
Adam Stafford leads a live trio to launch Daylight Slavings, his new album on Gerry Loves Records. Stafford’s 12th solo album is available digitally and on limited edition 12” vinyl.
Musically we are in the imagined cinematic zone of midnight drives through threatening deserts and rain-swept plains, post-industrial throb of red haze in black skies, stuttering shadows in glistening ice palaces and an existential horror film about a middle aged suburban man who has convinced himself he has a brutal snuff film in his closet.
But it’s not all terror and twilight foreboding, Stafford is at his most musically tender and poignant on ‘Catatonic Owls’ and the closing title track, which sees a burst of trombones and trumpets bringing illuminating shafts of light from the troubled heavens.
Leith Depot, Leith Walk. 8pm - 1am. Tickets -
Reggae Got Soul
Fundraiser for Empty Kitchens Full Hearts
Reggae Got Soul's second fundraiser for EMPTY KITCHENS FULL HEARTS. Very much hoping for as good a turnout as last year's event, because far too many people through no fault of their own are out there on their own with no ‘safety net, and in real need of a hand-up from organisations such as EKFH.
By purchasing a ticket you are making a real difference to the lives of those in our communities who now need some solidarity and generosity from those of us who can afford to give…..
Expect the usual 60/40 mix of High Grade Reggae and Soul from DJs Jeremiyah and George, with the indomitable Ras Ista Lion bringing his unique lyrical flow to the mic.

432 presents
Soccer Mommy
Sometimes, Forever, the immersive and compulsively replayable new Soccer Mommy full-length, cements Sophie Allison’s status as one of the most gifted songwriters making rock music right now. Packed with clever nods to synth-filled subgenres like new wave and goth, the album finds Sophie broadening the borders of her aesthetic without abandoning the unsparing lyricism and addictive melodies that make Soccer Mommy songs so easy to obsess over.
Sometimes, Forever is the 24-year-old’s boldest and most aesthetically adventurous work, a mesmerizing collection that feels both informed by the past and explicitly of the moment. It’s a fresh peek into the mind of an artist who synthesizes everything — retro sounds, personal tumult, the relatable disorder of modern life — into original music that feels built to last a long time. Maybe even forever…
